    Location: Meet at the trailhead kiosk at the end of Bailey View Drive.

    Take a walking tour through the westernmost Ridgeline Park. View majestic oaks, learn about habitat restoration and wildfire risk reduction efforts. This tour may be on both gravel trails and mowed, unsurfaced grassy paths. Wear sturdy boots or shoes.

    Location: Meet at Willamalane Bob Keefer Center.

    Enjoy this magical trail meandering through a temperate rainforest, where you will encounter a diversity of Pacific Northwest plants. The group will also take an extended hike in the area to enjoy the breathtaking views from forest to ocean.

    Location: Mt. Pisgah Arboretum Education Building

    Join Rich Kelly on a guided tour exploring tree species of the Pacific Northwest. Rich will cover the identification of a dozen native trees, give an overview of the ecological communities at the Arboretum, and discuss the role of trees and forests for carbon storage. Rich is a retired forester with the Bureau of Land Management and a member of the Arboretum's Habitat Committee. Rain or shine. Meet at the Education Building. Don't forget your parking pass.     Enjoy a free guided walking tour of some of Eugene’s most iconic murals. Debbie Williamson-Smith, one of the founding members of the 20x21EUG Mural Project, will lead the tour and share behind-the-scenes stories as she highlights Eugene’s monumental mural initiative.     This is the first class of a 10-week series. Be outdoors walking or rolling at local parks and trails. Patrons may hike up to 2 miles per outing. Dress for active play, wear good walking shoes and bring a water bottle and snack. All-terrain wheelchairs will be available upon request. Transportation provided to and from Hilyard Center.

    Most people have the idea that densely developed urban cores are no place for a tree to live. That depends. In this walking our of Eugene’s downtown, we’ll examine both the good and the not-so-good—in terms of tree health—and learn why some trees are thriving, even when surrounded by concrete, and others are clearly languishing. The walk is on flat ground, on pavement, and about a mile in length. We’ll meet at the Wayne Morse Free Speech Plaza at the northeast corner of East 8th Avenue and Oak Street.

    On Wednesday, October 9, Safe Routes To School celebrates International Walk+Roll to School Day! Walk+Roll to School Day is a global event that involves communities from more than 40 countries walking and rolling to school on the same day. It began as a one-day event and over time, it has become part of a movement for year-round safe routes to school. Today, thousands of schools across America participate every October.     Families & kiddos join us for a Dazzling Decomposers family tour! From mushrooms to millipedes, many organisms are crucial for keeping balance in our ecosystems. Together we will find out more about these helpful recyclers. Geared for families/adults with children, ages K-5th. Members free, Non-Members $5 per person. Meet us at the Education Building for a parking pass before we walk the trails.

    Location: Hospital’s emergency entrance—near the south end of the main building.

    The deep, well-drained soil of the Riverbend area provides ideal growing conditions for a great variety of both native and non-native trees. Meet among the stately conifers of the Stewart Family Grove right next to the hospital’s emergency entrance—near the south end of the main building. There’s plenty of parking in the huge lot just south of the grove. We’ll walk through the lovely riverside grounds and then explore the nearby neighborhood. The walk is on flat ground, mostly on pavement, and about a mile in length.

    Celebrate night creatures at our 28th annual Haunted Hike Celebration and Fundraiser! Enjoy an hour long pumpkin-lit hike in Alton Baker Park and meet an entertaining costumed bat, frog, spider, owl, and more. Join us for night-themed activities in the shelter before or after your hike. The event happens rain or moonshine — so dress for the weather!

    Explore the McKenzie River Trust Willamette Confluence property near Mount Pisgah. Learn about the conservation efforts and human history that have shaped this land. This is an easy hike along gravel roads.

    Rachel Glaeser and Emily Hamblen will lead a bird tour of UO campus from the Urban Farm to the Willamette River Natural Area. Rachel is the UO Active Transportation Coordinator and Emily is the UO Natural Areas Steward. Join us for a leisurely stroll through riverfront habitat that will cover 1-2 miles of multiuse path on flat ground. No birding experience necessary. Rain or Shine. FREE event!

    Run, Walk, and Roll with the Duck 5K has become a big tradition with hundreds of students, faculty members, and staff coming out to walk and run the trails of Eugene. Self-Led Walks

    Eugene’s First Friday ArtWalk, presented by Lane Arts Council and for the month of October in partnership with the City of Eugene, is a monthly celebration of the arts in and around Downtown Eugene. Each month, galleries, businesses, and arts venues stay open late, welcoming everyone to be part of our diverse, vibrant arts community. The monthly First Friday ArtWalk is from 5:30pm-8:00pm and is always free.

    Start your self-guided ArtWalk at the Farmers Market Pavilion (85 E 8th Ave), where you can pick up an ArtWalk Guide and shop the Artist Marketplace. Then explore the many galleries and art venues of Downtown Eugene, as well as enjoying live performances and presentations in the Farmers Market Pavilion. With new art and programming each month, you’ll always find something new at the First Friday ArtWalk!

    The First Friday Art Walk occurs the 1st Friday of EVERY month from 5-7pm on 1st Street in beautiful Uptown Oakridge.

    A classic UO tradition for all home football games! There isn't official start time for the tradition, but Duck fans will start walking over about 2 and a half hours before the game, and there is usually a continuous stream of fans completing the walk until kickoff.
