Location: Willamalane Bob Keefer Center
Explore the Willamette Confluence Preserve and Turtle Flats on a small bus tour with McKenzie River Trust and Friends of Buford Park. This 1,400-acre preserve showcases rare habitats in the Willamette Valley, including river corridors, floodplain forests, wetlands, upland oak woodlands, and native prairies. Learn about the conservation efforts, human history, and natural features of the preserve from volunteer docents. This tour is ideal for those who cannot walk the typical four miles of walking tours. Bring a bagged lunch and water, dress for the weather, and consider bringing a portable chair. An ADA-accessible toilet will be available halfway through the tour. Registration is required.

Walk+Roll to School Day is a global event that involves communities from more than 40 countries walking and rolling to school on the same day. It began as a one-day event and over time, it has become part of a movement for year-round safe routes to school. Today, thousands of schools across America participate every October.

On this tour we will walk around Eugene Masonic Cemetery observing the variety of trees and shrubs that grow there. Join tree expert Whitey Lueck to admire the trees and the homes of this older neighborhood—with stately examples of both—and discuss neighborhood history, including that of several prominent Eugene families. And did you know that, a century ago, one of Eugene’s long-defunct trolley lines passed just east of Washburne Park? The walk is about a mile in length and includes one or two short hills. We’ll be walking on both pavement and grassy areas. Meet in the now waterless wading pool just east of the intersection of East 20th Avenue and Agate Street.

Eugene’s First Friday ArtWalk, presented by Lane Arts Council and for the month of October in partnership with the City of Eugene, is a monthly celebration of the arts in and around Downtown Eugene. Each month, galleries, businesses, and arts venues stay open late, welcoming everyone to be part of our diverse, vibrant arts community. The monthly First Friday ArtWalk is from 5:30pm-8:00pm and is always free.
Start your self-guided ArtWalk at the Farmers Market Pavilion (85 E 8th Ave), where you can pick up an ArtWalk Guide and shop the Artist Marketplace. Then explore the many galleries and art venues of Downtown Eugene, as well as enjoying live performances and presentations in the Farmers Market Pavilion. With new art and programming each month, you’ll always find something new at the First Friday ArtWalk!
